Robert Griffin Tweets Shannon Sharpe To Come Out of Retirement
Jerom Miron- US PRESSWIRE

@RGIII, the twitter account for one of the top two picks in the draft Robert Griffin, knows who he would like to throw to:

@ShannonSharpe is the twitter account for Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe. Sharpe is credited for revolutionizing the position by scoring 10,000 yards, the first in his position. He won three Super Bowls, two with the Broncos, the team he is most known for playing for. Sharpe retired at the end of the 2003 season.

Griffin is likely to end up with the Washington Redskins, as the Colts are expected to draft Andrew Luck with the first pick. Sharpe, in this hypothetical fantasy draft scenario, would be reunited with his old head coach, Mike Shanahan.

Shanahan is going to need to find magic like Sharpe to make the Griffin situation work. He has bet the farm on Griffin by giving up three number one picks for the guy. Of course, Shanahan won his two Super Bowls with John Elway and has to hope that Griffin will rise to be an elite quarterback in the league. Shanahan has not had an elite quarterback since Elway retired after his second Super Bowl.

Obviously, Griffin was kidding about the Sharpe comment, but it’s good to know that he wants the best talent around him. Griffin is a competitor and looks to make a splash next year. If you’re going to surround yourself with a fantasy line-up from the history of the NFL, Shannon Sharpe would have to be your tight end.
