Kobe Bryant Auctioning Off Signed Face Mask

By David LaRose

The clear face mask that Kobe Bryant wore for a period of time this season is up for auction on ebay with all of the proceeds going to his charity. Bryant signed the mask and posted it on ebay with bidding on the item continuing for another week.

Bryant wore the mask after suffering a broken nose and concussion from a hard foul delivered by Dwayne Wade in the NBA All-Star game in February. He sported the clear mask for eleven games and tallied 342 points during that span. He even tried wearing an all-black face mask but that didn’t work out too well. One of the big selling points for the mask is that Kobe scored his 29,oooth point while wearing it March 9th against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

All of the proceeds from the auctioning of his mask will go towards his own charity, the Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation. I hope that this money isn’t going to be reallocated to pay for their divorce lawyers but it’s a good move anyways to send the money to a charity.

Bryant and the rest of the Los Angeles Lakers are in the midst of their Western Conference playoff series against the Denver Nuggets, currently leading the series 2-0. In the two games, Bryant scored 31 in the first and 38 in the second to propel the Lakers to the early two game advantage. As the series shifts back to Denver, Bryant and the rest of the Lakers will try to steal a game to make it easier to close out the series back in LA.

You can bid on the item here and there’s a photo of Bryant signing the mask just in case you are skeptical:
