I will admit that last night I was kicking myself a bit. I went out to the cinema with a few friends just to relax, take my mind off of any stresses and strains and to remove my brain. So I went to see the Avengers Assemble movie, because I wouldn’t need to think too much.
However, as well as skipping out on any work I should have been doing I also ended up missing some fantastic soccer. As a Newcastle United supporter I was mostly upset at missing Papiss Cissé’s wonderstrike against Chelsea, where the striker chested a pass well outside and to the left of the box before unlatching a shot which curled off the outside of his boot and past a hapless Petr Cech.
It was drool worthy.
Then I found out that more crazy stuff happened alongside that. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the movie, but I appear to have missed a fair bit of action on the field!
Now this video has come to my attention, and as ridiculous as it is it only rubs things in. Last week I missed out on Carles Puyol, Lionel Messi and Xavi rubbing shoulders, as it were, with Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and the Hulk.
Strangest mascot outfits you have ever seen? They’re up there.
This happened just before Barcelona thrashed Rayo Vallecano 7-0, and last night they won 4-1 against Malaga, with wee Messi breaking the European scoring record for a single season in the process. Despite this they lost the title to Real Madrid.
Why does all the best stuff always happen when you’re looking at something else?
(UNCONFIRMED: The Avengers asked for Messi’s autograph…)
