Michelle Beadle is leaving ESPN for NBC Sports, in a move that is not shocking at all.  It has been rumored that she would leave the company after her contract expired, even though everyone there is in love with her.  Beadle will certainly become one of the main faces at the new NBC Sports.

The most intriguing thing about this to me is the Access Hollywood part.  Beadle has never struck me as a gossipy, LA insider.  She seems more down to earth than that, but maybe it was an extra perk that she wanted.  I just don’t see her fitting in well on that show.  However, I do love the move to NBC Sports.  She will easily drive viewers to their fledging network, which needs all the help she can get.

ESPN is seen as an unstoppable machine, but there are cracks in the armor.  Talent is starting to leave and they are taking repeated PR shots from all over the world.  That is what happens when you hire someone like Sarah Phillips and let people like Craig James run roughshod during their tenure.

I believe that this is a great move for Beadle.  She is clearly not an ESPN creation as she should be able to succeed in any outlet.  I imagine that she got a nice little raise as well.  All in all, a good move.  Better yet, this means no one has to watch SportsNation anymore.
