Mike Krzyzewski Thinks London Games Are His Last As Coach of Team USA

Say it ain’t so Mike! Several news outlets are reporting that Mike Krzyzewski will not coach the USA basketball team in 2016, and will hang it up after the London Games. Coach K was probably the best thing that has happened to USA basketball in quite some time, taking over a ridiculously underperforming team in 2004, and turning them back into the gold medel team they should be EVERY olympics.

I can’t say I’m surprised. Coach K isn’t exactly young anymore and he does coach that Duke program still. I could see him wanting to spend a little more time with his family, and less time with some of the most spoiled athletes on the planet. I think he’s done amazing things for the careers of several NBA players, and he’s earned the respect of the nations best.

Coach K has had one of the best coaching careers in the history of sports. He’s earned the right to try and go out on top, and hand the reigns to someone else in 2016. He’s a special human being and a special coach, and we’re all very lucky to watch him do what he does best.

Best of luck in the rest of your career coach K. At least this summer, I can call myself a “Duke fan.” I look forward to you bringing the gold back to the USA- where it belongs.
