Stephen A Smith Spoof from Saturday Night Live

NBA analyst Stephen A Smith has joined the long list of sports personalities to be spoofed by the legendary sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live.

This bit from ‘Weekend Update’ did not make the cut on the original show, and was released exclusively on the internet.

Stephen A commented on the skit today on 1st and 10:

“It was hysterical…I didn’t know anything about it until Sportscenter had told me Sunday morning… I was stunned, it was hysterical. Your job is to be funny and he had me cryin. I wouldn’t have worn that shirt with that tie, that’s not my style, that’s not my style, but outside of that you know, I mean it is what it is. I can take it, I can take it, he’s suppose to be good, ” said Smith.

It’s good to see that Stephen A is man enough to laugh at himself. For a guy that ridicules people for a living, it’s only fair that he gets a little bit of that back.

The actor playing Smith (Jay Pharoah), had the impression down pat. Complete with all the voice inflections, high pitched sounds, and mannerisms, he had this right on.

Stephen A Smiths’ over the top antics have made him one of the most recognizable personalities in all of sports journalism. Recently, he joined the cast of 1st and 10 full-time, up from just a weekly appearance. His back-and-forth debates with Skip Bayless are some of my favorites to watch on sports television.
