Jacksonville Jaguars 1st round draft pick Justin Blackmon was arrested and charged with aggravated DUI on Sunday in Stillwater, OK. Blackmon reportedly had a blood alcohol level of at least.15. He was booked at approximately 10:00 a.m. CT into jail.
Here is his mugshot:
This picture of course was trending on Twitter.
While in college, Blackmon was also arrested in 2010 for a DUI complaint, he was clocked going 92 mph in a 60 mph zone at 3:45 in the morning. The incident led to a one game suspension.
Justin Blackmon made the following comment after his 2010 arrest:
“I’m embarrassed to be in this position. I look forward to redeeming myself and proving to everybody that this isn’t who I am.” I’m not this guy. I’m humbled by this experience and I will grow from it.”
Blackmon is considered by most to be the top wide receiver in this year’s draft class. He has the size and speed of a true No.1 NFL receiver, and figures to be a face of the Jaguars franchise for years to come…This obviously doesn’t get things off to real good start.
Barring a suspension being handed down by the NFL, I really don’t see this having a huge impact on Blackmon’s rookie season. I just think he’s too talented to not be effective right away, once he gets on the field.
Clearly there are some issues here that must be addressed before this gets out of control. There have already been two incidents in his very young career, and Blackmon surely has some growing up to do. I look forward to seeing if he can redeem himself, and live up to the hype.
