Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers is a diehard Michigan fan.  The band was playing a show in Columbus when the drummer decided to have a bit of fun at the expense of the Ohio State fans in attendance.  He started singing the Michigan fight song, much to the horror of the people there.

I think this is an extremely hilarious move by Chad Smith.  It probably did not win him many fans in Columbus, but I bet the Michigan fans are really happy.  There is nothing like tweaking your rival team and I think Smith accomplished that

That is what is great about sports.  Basically everyone has a favorite sports team and will do whatever they can to support them.  The fact that Chad Smith started singing the Michigan fight song in the heart of Ohio State country shows his devotion to his team.  It might not be the smartest thing if it starts a riot, but that is a risk you have to take.

I’m going to out on a limb and guess that Chad Smith will not be welcome back at that place for a little bit.  I think the OSU fans might not be extremely happy to see him come back.  Then again, they could surprise.  Maybe they will develop a sense of humor and realize the joke that was played.  If they really want to get Smith back, they will find a way to make fun of Michigan.
