The Washington Nationals young stud Bryce Harper had a monster game Tuesday and led the squad to a dramatic 4-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. Harper had three hits, one of which was a monster 438 foot home-run, as well as the walk-off single which sealed the win. The phenom topped off the night with a beauty of a soundbite during a post-game interview.
A reporter, who obviously was a bit excited over the thrilling game, asked Harper if the young superstar would indulge in a Canadian beer, seeing that the legal drinking age is 19 in Canada. After a few seconds, Harper tells the muppet reporter that he would not answer the question and said “That’s a clown question bro.”
Simple, but true. It was a clown question. Take a look at the post-game interview below.
Although this reporter gave a valiant effort, you’re not going to catch this young, future gazillionaire talking about booze. At least not yet. Bryce Harper wants his paper first, and he is going to get it eventually. If Harper can stay healthy and continue to make highlight reels, endorsement deals and money will pour his way.
The Nationals are now 37-23 with a four game lead on the Atlanta Braves in the National League East. I recently wrote a piece featuring both the Nationals superstars, Harper and Stephen Strasburg, asking the question “who would you rather have” and Strasburg was the pick of the majority of my readers. Of course I understand the need of an “ace” in the pitching staff, but Harper has turned it on as of late and is now finding his groove. Harper is now batting .305, and has 7 home-runs with 19 RBI’s. The kid has arrived.
