Lance Armstrong Hit With Formal Doping Charges, Could Lose Tour de France Titles

Lance Armstrong has often denied that he has every doped in order to win his Tour de France titles.  However, the USADA does not believe that as they are bringing formal doping charges against the former cycling star.  If he is convicted, he could lose his titles, which would be a big blow to cycling.  They try to avoid doping stories as much as they can, but this might be too much.

This would not be good for Armstrong.  Everyone had forgotten about the mess that surrounded him but this will bring it right back into the news cycle.  The questions about his doping have always existed.  People wanted to believe his remarkable story but it almost seemed to good to be true.

This situation is going to devolve into a mess.  Lance Armstrong will once again have his credibility questioned and this time, he might not get away so clean.  If he did dope, he will be exposed.  That is about the last thing that he wants.  He has built an empire off of his story, so a tainted story is not a good thing at all.

I wonder how long this will take before Lance Armstrong has to go to court about this situation.  This will certainly overshadow a lot of other sport stories.  A lot of people started watching cycling just to watch Armstrong.  They will probably not be happy if they see him have his titles stripped.  In fact, the backlash could be awful for the image and reputation of Armstrong.
