Jordan takes off with his foot touching the free throw circle.
I love Magic Johnson’s reaction to the play, as he’s more pumped than Jordan when they exchange a very focused high five. Why wouldn’t they psyched though? This play is about as picture perfect as it gets…
Two notable quotes from Magic Johnson on Dream Team practice, and the Redeem Team:
On Dream Team practice (yes, talking about practice):
“Everyday we would scrimmage against each other. Man, you talk about some of the greatest basketball I’ve ever played in or had been a part of, that was it.”
On the 2008 Redeem Team:
“When you think about the Olympics and the Dream Team, I have to throw it to you.Kobe and them won by 22 points. Ehh, 22 points? We won by an average of 44 points. So when they want to step up to that, you tell them we’ll be waiting on them.”
I think it goes without saying that the Dream Team would crush the Redeem Team. Sure there was a lot of talent on the Redeem Team, and they could give them a run for their money (literally), but there is just no way it would happen. The Dream Team just wouldn’t allow it.
Stay tuned for more moments in Dream Team history as we get closer to the 2012 London Olympics.
