With confirmed 90 MPH winds tearing through the Midwest last night, the Joliet Slammers and Southern Illinois Miners game was cut short just before the 7th inning stretch. While the tarp put up a good fight, the grounds crew and front office staff of the Joliet Slammers Professional Baseball Team were not only able to control the situation but evacuate the stadium so that everyone was in shelter upon the arrival of the storm.
The Franchise has told the attendees of the game that their tickets will be good for a future game, considering that the fans expected to see a fireworks show to conclude the Salute to Classic Rock Promotion night. There were over 2,800 people in the stadium at the time that the winds hit. The Miners won the game 7-4 to conclude the series against the Joliet Slammers.
