DJ Byrd, Ryne Smith, and Dru Anthrop are your typical college basketball players (except for Smith, who is now a grad assistant). The three players at Purdue University were bored one weekend and decided to film a trick shot video to break up the monotony. This video is pretty sweet.
Nothing like breaking up the boring months of summer with a trick shot competition. DJ Byrd will be a big part of the team this coming season, while Anthrop is expected to provide a steady presence for the incoming freshmen to lean on. Smith finished up his career last year and is now looking at a year of helping the team as a graduate assistant.
I hope that these guys make more videos. DJ Byrd and Smith have gone back and forth all offseason with individual videos, so this is a great thing to see all the shots in one spot. It takes a lot of talent to be able to pull off a video like this.
I expect big things out of DJ Byrd in his final season at Purdue. He had a breakout season last year and he can only improve. He spent some of the offseason getting shooting lessons from Rick Mount, which is never a bad thing. Hopefully those lessons can translate into the season. Purdue might be hard pressed to return to the NCAA Tournament, so they are going to need a great year out of Byrd and company.
