Olympic Flashback: Vince Carter Dunks Over 7'2 French Player

By Andrew Fisher

As we countdown to the 2012 London Olympics, it’s only right that we take a look at some of the great moments in US Olympic history.

It’s the world-wide competition gives athletes a chance to prove that they are truly the best in the world at what they do.

Let’s take a look at Rantsports.com‘s Olympic Flashback #3 –

Vince Carter Dunks Over 7’2 Frenchman – Sidney, Australia 2000

KG about gets clocked in the mouth.

This has to be the best in-game dunk of all-time. Nobody has ever done anything like this in the 121 year history of basketball. There are certainly more flashy dunks, and more thunderous dunks, but none that take as much skill as this one.

Vince Carter very well may be the best dunker of all-time. At minimum he has the best Slam Dunk contest performance in NBA history. The show he put on in 2000, is something I will never forget as a basketball fan.

In his prime, there was no better dunker than Carter…

As for the Olympics, the United States would go on to win Gold, defeating France 85 – 75 on October 1, 2000.

This US squad certainly wasn’t a Dream Team with players like Vin Baker, Shareef Abdur-Rahim, and Antonio McDyess on the roster, but they got the job done.

USA basketball hit an all-time low four years later when they took home Bronze in Athens, Greece; but then totally Redeemed themselves in the 2008 China games…
