Katie Ledecky Wins 800 Meter Freestyle At 2012 Summer Olympics

Katie Ledecky may only be 15 years old but she has an Olympic gold medal to her name.  She won the 800 meter freestyle at the 2012 Summer Olympics to become the youngest American to win gold at these games.  Not exactly bad for a girl who can not legally drive a car yet.

Katie Ledecky went out there and destroyed the competition in this race.  It was never close and she showed how good of a swimmer that she really is.  I expect her to be a force for years to come if she is doing this when she is only 15 years old.  There are a lot of people who are older than her who can only dream of this success.

At 15, I sure was not concerned about winning Olympic medals.  I was more concerned with getting homework done and not being late for school.  Ledecky is out there blowing people away in Olympic level meets.  That is impressive to say the least.

We will have to wait and see what she has in store for 2016.  If she can continue to swim like this, she could have a nice collection of golds by the time the Rio games are done.   If you can come home with a gold at this age, that is impressive.  If you destroy the field, people are going to be watching out for her.

Katie Ledecky can not get complacent about this and sit back.  She has to continue pushing to be great but it looks like we have another great American swimmer on our hands.
