Patty Mills has bounced around the professional basketball world, but his biggest shot came on Monday.  Australia was taking on Russia in group play and they were down one with little time remaining.  Mills got the ball at the top of the key and let fly a three that split the net and gave Australia the 82-80 victory.

Let’s just say the basketball results have been a little bit wacky at the 2012 Summer Olympics.  Spain has been hurt by injuries and they lost to Russia.  Russia looked to be the team that could take out Team USA but they just dropped this game.  Team USA struggled mightily against Lithuania and they still have to play Argentina.  None of this makes sense.

The medal round is coming up soon and it looks like the Americans are the only team that has a sure fire shot at a medal.  Every other team in the tournament could either win gold or flame out.  This has made basketball a pretty fun sport to watch these Olympics.  There are a lot of good players on each team, so there are no games that end up being just a walk in the park.

This might end being the biggest shot that Patty Mills ever makes.  He might end up making a game winner in a pro league but a buzzer beater to seal a win for your home country is something that ends up being a lot more special.  Right now, this is the shot of the entire tournament.
