Lolo Jones has some explaining to do. The hurdler that has taken America by storm still has nothing to show for all of her promotional efforts. She struggled to make the 100 meter hurdle finals at the 2012 Summer Olympics and then she failed to medal.
After the disappointment that Jones had in 2008, many thought she could redeem herself. However, it was not meant to be. Jones ran a very shaky semifinal, even though her time was not awful. That apparently spelled doom for her in the finals. She should be thankful that she qualified at all.
She looked good at the start but Jones simply was not fast enough to keep up with everyone else in the race. She probably blew her best shot in 08 when she was leading before she smacked a hurdle and fell to the 7th. For as much exposure as she gets, she does not have the results to back it up. Believe it or not, results do matter from time to time.
Besides the fact that Lolo was not in line for a medal, this was a very good race and it shows why track will almost always be king of the Olympics. Swimming and gymnastics are great but more people are going to tune into watch track. There are more marketable stars in track than there will ever be in those other two sports. It might not be fair, but it is how things seem to work out.
Jones will have to deal with a lot of questions about how she failed to come up with a medal once again. In fact, she might need to score a date with Tim Tebow in order to switch the topic from her running to her personal life. She has simply not been able to put up the results to match what else she is doing.
