Adeiny Hechavarria is a fairly athletic guy and he showed off his skills Thursday night. The Toronto Blue Jays were taking on the Chicago White Sox and Hechavarria pulled off an impressive cartwheel while making a catch in the 8th inning. This was a lighter note in a game that also had the tragic collapse of a fan in the stands.
I am not 100 percent sure that he was going for the cartwheel there but it did end up working out to his advantage. He was able to hold onto the ball, which would have been the most difficult part of that play. The cartwheel looks like it comes easy, but holding onto the ball during the flip part would be difficult.
If Adeiny Hecharvarria keeps making plays like this, he will stick on this Jays roster, even after players come back from injury. They have been hit with a lot of injury bugs this season, which has forced some guys into action. Some players have benefitted from this while other have failed. It looks like Adeiny is taking advantage of his time to at least show off how great of a gymnast he could have been.
This should make the highlight reels at least. It was not the greatest play of the season but it is an impressive show of skill. It was not a showboating type of cartwheel, but it looked almost necessary to pull the play off. It might have been embellished but it worked out well.
