Tim Tebow Wants Former Florida Teammate Jeff Demps To Join The New York Jets

Jeff Demps and Tim Tebow go way back.  The two were teammates at Florida and if Tebow gets his way, they will be teammates with the New York Jets.  The silver medalist sprinter wants to join the ranks of professional football and it looks like the Jets are one of the teams in the lead for his services thanks to Tebow.

“Yeah, they asked me about him,” Tebow said, in comments distributed by the team. “Jeff is a great guy and a great player and he is someone that I was proud to play with in college. He did a great job for us in college. I feel like wherever he goes he’ll work hard and do a good job for that team.”

Anytime you can add a guy with Olympic track speed on the cheap, you have to do it.  Jeff Demps actually has football experience too, which comes as a plus.  He is a perfect guy to use on returns and to run a deep route with.  He is a change of pace guy that could give the Jets offense a little bit of a shot in the arm.

At any rate, Tim Tebow will end up being the starting quarterback for the Jets, so surrounding him with guys that he used to play with is a pretty smart move.  A guy like Jeff Demps who can catch the ball and make plays in traffic would be good for Tebow.  He would not have to make the play himself, per say.  Just get the ball to Demps and let him work his magic.

Jeff Demps will pick a team soon and a lot of people will be surprised if he is not a Jet.  It appears that Tebow gets what he wants and a shiny new offensive weapon might be in the cards.
