Hajime Motegi Hits Walk Off Home Run To Push Japan Over Chinese Taipei In The Little League World Series

By Riley Schmitt

Hajime Motegi may not be known to many people but after the work he did Sunday night, he is going to be on all the sports shows.  He hit a walk off bomb in the ninth inning to lead Japan to a victory over Chinese Taipei in the Little League World Series.  Who said little kids playing ball isn’t awesome?

There are a lot of people that do not get the appeal of the LLWS and I can understand that.  It is not a very clean game and most games have a ton of errors.  However, there are some games that turn out to be just fantastic.  This is one of those games.  Both of these teams are great and they left it all on the line on Sunday.

The best part about this type of series is the joy that these kids have.  Hajime Motegi is going to remember this moment for the rest of his life.  He and his team are on a journey to win a title and he just a hit a walk off shot that was viewed by millions.  It would be pretty hard to come up with something to top that.  As long as he lives, that moment will always be a big one for him.

The play may not always be pretty but the joy that the kids have on the field makes the viewing experience worth it.  The kids simply care.  They are not out there with a hidden agenda or to make more money.  They play for the love of the game and to have a great experience with their team.

I tip my hat to Hajime Motegi and the rest of Japan.  They fought hard and they came out on top.  If they bring home the title, this walk off bomb will be one of the big moments of their run.
