Brandon Crawford and Pablo Sandoval of the San Francisco Giants certainly made this play look amazing. It looked like your ordinary pop up, but Sandoval kind of misjudged it. He got his glove on it as he fell to the ground, but it shot up in the air. Luckily, Crawford was alert enough to lay out and make the diving catch.
This might not be the best catch of the year but it has to be up there. I mean, look at all the moving parts on that play. You had to have two guys paying attention to the ball and make diving efforts. That is not something that you see every day.
Of course, there has to be a team on the receiving end of this play. That would be the hapless Houston Astros, who have to be hoping this season ends soon. If there is a wacky highlight, you can bet that the Astros are probably involved in a negative sense. It just has been that type of year for the team.
This play should be splashed across all of the highlight shows for a couple of days. It is just that absurd. It took two amazing efforts to make one out. Not exactly textbook, but it does work out in the end.
Congrats to Brandon Crawford and Sandoval on this play. It may not have been the way that they wanted the thing to turn out, but you can not argue with the results.
