Tim Tebow Completes Awesome Jump Pass On Fake Punt

Ed Mulholland-US PRESSWIRE

Tim Tebow has finally done something cool as a member of the New York Jets. On Sunday, the backup quarterback completed his coolest pass ever. The reason it is so cool is because it came on a brilliantly drawn fake punt play.

This is how the Jets can use Tebow effectively.  You have to be careful against this team on punt plays with him back as a protector.  He can actually complete passes.  Well, not with any regularity but it is a threat that you have to watch out for.

This was brilliantly done but I am wondering why the Jets used it in a game that they were up in.  In fact, they are simply dominating on Sunday.  So much for the team being done.  They actually look pretty feisty if they can keep up a playing style like this.

Mark Sanchez has looked fairly solid so this might keep the “Tebow for starter” crowd quiet for at least a little bit.  Those two can work in a tandem but there is an easier way to do it.  If Sanchez is on a roll, don’t put in Tebow.  Let him work his magic out there until he struggles.

Tebow is going to have an impact on this team if he keeps up his special teams play.  That is really odd to say for a quarterback but it is a role that he succeeds in.  I think that he will someday switch positions and this just might be a test of that.  However, the fake punt play needs to stay.
