Dwight Howard Scores First Points As A Laker Off An Alley Oop

By Riley Schmitt

Dwight Howard is going to be a fan favorite in LA for a long time. The Los Angeles Lakers center made his debut on Sunday night and scored his first points as a Laker on an alley-oop dunk. He received the pass from Pau Gasol on a high-low play, which should scare everyone who likes basketball.

Not only is Dwight getting oops from Pau, he is also playing some great ball in a two man game with Kobe Bryant.  It is only the first time that they have played together as a cohesive unit, but they do look pretty good out there.  They might run through some rough patches, but the offense might not end up being the problem.

I am not a Lakers fan by any means but this team intrigues me so much.  As a basketball fan, this collection of talent is something that is completely rare.  In theory this should end up being a total mess, but most of these players are unselfish guys.  They can all pass the rock but it will all come down to one thing.  If Kobe decides to play hero ball, this could end up being an absolute mess.

However, it is not time to talk about the problems that could happen with this team.  For now, they look like one great unit.  The bench is a little weak but the starters should be able to overwhelm almost any other unit.  This team is going to be one to keep an eye on all season.
