David Stern Confuses Hurricane Sandy With Hurricane Katrina On NBA Opening Night
David Stern might want to speed up his retirement. The NBA commissioner made a major gaffe on opening night. Stern was trying to express his concern for the victims of Hurricane Sandy but he ended up referencing Hurricane Katrina. He did not catch himself and the internet had a ball with it.
This is something that is going to get a lot of attention in the coming days. A gaffe like this is going get a lot of play in today’s era. That video is going to be all over Youtube before Stern and company even know what happens. In fact, I am going to add the video of it when it shows up online. That is how things work these days.
(See, I held up my end of the bargain.)
Stern meant well, but you have to make sure you know what you are talking about. Mixing up the two storms is something that is not going to go over well with people. If you run a sport, you should be able to understand the things you are talking about. You know that people are going to use this to rip on him.
Stern has been a good commissioner but he has run into some issues in his last few years. This is just another thing that people will hammer him over. It might not be a huge deal in the long run but it is something that will get attention. If the NBA season ends up following this script, it might be a long year.
By the way, happy NBA day everyone!
