Anthony Davis Joins the Red Bull Family

By Renae Juska

NBA rookie Anthony Davis has officially been welcomed into the Red Bull family. Previously known for his very noticeable unibrow, Davis will now be seen suited up in Red Bull gear.

Davis has become quite known in the world of basketball and has potential to be a top player in the league.

Last year, he was a freshman on the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team, whose season ended with a NCAA Championship win. He was the 1st NBA draft pick and headed for the New Orleans Hornets.

Then to top it off, the 19-year-old who had not even played a game in the NBA yet, made it on to the USA Men’s Olympic Basketball Team. Davis has been quite the focal point in the media thanks to his success.

Now, Red Bull is sponsoring him. Sure, athletes get sponsorships all the time, but we’re only on day 3 of the season. But with Davis’ athletic talent, he should be able to prove that he deserves a spot in the Red Bull family.

Other members of the Red Bull athlete roster include Blake Griffin, Deron Williams, Rajon Rondo and John Wall, among 500 others worldwide. He got the opportunity to tour his new city of New Orleans with his new friends at Red Bull during the VooDoo Music Experience.

He even got to play a little 1-on-1 game with hip-hop/rap producer Mannie Fresh. This was particularly special for Davis because before basketball came around, he always wanted to be a rapper. Fresh has produced songs for top artists, Lil Wayne, Cash Money, T.I., and many more.

Davis started off his first game this season playing 20 minutes and ending with 21 points and 7 rebounds.

However on Friday night, Davis was accidently elbowed by his teammate, Austin Rivers and left the game with a mild concussion. Before he got hurt, he scored 8 points (all on dunks), 6 rebounds and 2 blocked shots.

All we can hope for is a speedy recovery so that we can see Davis’ rookie potential.
