Fan Blames Death on Kansas City Chiefs in Obituary

Kirby Lee-US PRESSWIRE

Things haven’t gone exactly as planned for the Kansas City Chiefs this season. They’re currently tied for the league’s worst record at 1-9, and I think the word dismal isn’t even enough to describe their season.

The ultimate insult to their 2012 campaign may just have come in the form of fan’s obituary, however. A Missouri man named Loren G. Lickteig passed away on November 14th, and the following was included in his obituary:

Loren G. “Sam” Lickteig passed away on Nov. 14, 2012 of complications from MS and heartbreaking disappointment caused by the Kansas City Chiefs football team.

That’s right, heartbreaking disappointment from the Chiefs, wow.

The Chiefs are just flat out terrible, but contributing to fan’s death is a new one to me. In all my years of being a sports fan, I have never heard of such a thing. Frankly, I think this is hilarious. Certainly not the fact the Mr. Lickteig died, as that’s never a laughing matter, but to have this included in an obit is just short of amazing. There’s nothing quite like a good rib from beyond the grave…

As far as the Chiefs are concerned, I don’t know where they go from here. Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn are definitely not the future quarterbacks of the team, and arguably their best player Dwayne Bowe has been rumored to want to play elsewhere. From the front office to the coaching staff, and nearly all the players, Kansas City is an awful mess. A massive overhaul is no doubt in order for 2013.
