#15 - Phil Simms

I'm just not a huge Simms fan. He brings a quarterback's perspective to the game, and I like that, but there's just something about Simms I don't like. There are many announcers better and worse than Simms, but all in all, he calls a pretty good game.

#14 - Jim Nance

"Hello friends." That's all I really have to say about Jim Nance. Nice catchphrase dude. I think Nance is alright at announcing footballs games, but that he's better off calling the Masters once a year.

#13 - Tony Siragusa

Usually the down on the field announcer doesn't work out to well, but Siragusa is no doubt the best at what he does. His analysis and observations from the field are usually spot on. Plus he has great chemistry with the rest of the crew. (We'll get to them later.)

#12 - Greg Gumbel

Gumbel is a guy that has just been around forever, and one of those announcers I grew up listening to. While he's far from the best in the business, Gumbel calls himself a pretty darn good game.

#11 - Marv Albert

People will not like Marv Albert on a football announcers countdown. I get it, he's considered a basketball announcer, but it's Marv freaking Albert. I would listen to this guy call a chess match. Albert is one of the all-time greats, and he calls an entertaining NFL game.

#10 - Mike Mayock

Mayock is a guy who's grown on me. It took me awhile to get over his accent, and while I still don't really like it, the guy is just too good at his job to not be considered one of the best. He knows his Xs and Os, and is not afraid to call players out on the air.

#9 - Dan Dierdorf

Dierdorf is an old-school guy, and another announcer I grew up listening to. He was on one of the most memorable MNF announcing crews, and recently has worked with Greg Gumbel on CBS. Dierdorf is very solid all around in his announcing approach.

#8 - Kenny Albert

Part of the FOX crew including Siragusa, Albert is a very good play-by-play guy. He fits in extremely well with his broadcast partners, and unquestionably enhances the game, which is ultimately what announcers are there for.

#7 - Cris Collinsworth

Lots of love and hate with this guy. Some people cannot stand Cris Collinsworth. I didn't like him much growing up, but over the years I warmed up to his commentary. Collinsworth knows his football, plain and simple.

#6 - Mike Tirico

Kirby-Lee-USA-TODAY-Sports

You don't become the play-by-play announcer for MNF by being a schmuck. Tirico is one the best in the business. He's always professional, but he won't hesitate to call out players either. I'll never forget when he used the term 'Busch League' during a broadcast, classic.

#5 - Brian Billick

The former coach transitioned well into his new role, and every week he brings his A-game to the announcers booth. I love the knowledge he brings to the table, and his coach's mentality. It's nice to get perspective from a guy just a few years removed from game.

#4 - Daryl Johnston

Moose is a great color analyst. His assessments and understanding of the game translate very well to viewers. His chemistry with Albert and Siragusa is great, and the three of them form the best overall crew in the business.

#3 - Thom Brennaman

YouTube

Billick's broadcast partner on FOX, and the son of a legendary baseball announcer, Brennaman is the best play-by-play guy on his network. Unfortunately, the executives don't see it that way, and there's another guy with a famous father holding down the "No. 1" spot.

#2 - Al Michaels

The-Star-Ledger-USA-TODAY-Sports
The-Star-Ledger-USA-TODAY-Sports

Al Michaels is legend, plain and simple. At 68-years old he's still going strong every week on SNF. He and Collinsworth make real strong duo, and both compliment each other well. It will be a sad day when Michaels decides to retire.

#1 - Jon Gruden

Howard-Smith-USA-TODAY-Sports
Howard-Smith-USA-TODAY-Sports

Yet another guy people seem to love or hate, but regardless of your opinion on his announcing skills, the guy knows football as well as anyone. I'm not just talking about announcers, I mean anyone. Gruden never ceases to amaze me with his wealth of knowledge on the game. He's lively and entertaining, sometimes over the top, but I love his enthusiasm. It's never a boring game with Gruden behind the mic.
