Some things just cannot be explained. For instance, the reaction of some people when their favorite sports team loses an important game. The latest example of lunacy comes from a Dallas Cowboys fan who lost it after the Cowboys failed to beat the Washington Redskins in a win or go home game last Sunday night.
The fan, who’s identity is unknown, loaded his washing machine with explosives, placed a Tony Romo jersey over and blew it up by firing a gun at it until he finally hit it. Not only did he videotape the act, he also titled it “Getting the crap* Off Of My Cowboys Jersey.”
I get it, there are plenty of fans who were upset after the Cowboys lost when Tony Romo failed to play well in a big game, again, but this is just ridiculous. I’m as big a fan of the Cowboys as there is but there is no need for a display like this. Especially in this day and age with everything that’s happened with guns and violence in the past year.
It’s a perfect example of how guns can be glorified and used in an improper way. I’m not going to preach about gun laws or safety but this is something that doesn’t need to be seen. What if the gun misfired and hit someone else if the explosion was bigger than anticipated? I’m guessing it wouldn’t be as funny if there was any type of serious injury.
It also shows how irrational fans can be and as I stated a few months ago, there are more important things in life than sports and a better example must be set. Dallas Cowboys fans are among the best and most passionate fans in all of sports and this casts them all in a negative light.
As if losing isn’t bad enough for Cowboys fan, along comes this guy to make things even worse.
