It’s been a crazy week in the world of sports; the NFL has four great playoff games, Lance Armstrong finally admits to using performance enhancing drugs and Chip Kelly gets hired by the Philadelphia Eagles out of the blue. It gets even crazier, today we learned of a Manti Te’o hoax about his deceased girlfriend. So while a story about a girl who never existed is going on, there is a story of someone trying to make a girl reappear.
The National Enquirer is reporting that Tiger Woods wants to re-marry his estranged wife, Elin Nordegren. Apparently Woods propposed to her again over Christmas and is willing to sign a prenuptial agreement worth an enormous amount of money to get her back. No word on how much he offered but the report is that she wants a $350 million anti-cheat clause.
There’s a saying when purchasing something used that goes like this, ‘buyer beware.’ Elin should hear those words and run as far away as possible from Woods. Has she forgotten what he did to her over two years ago? Has she forgotten the cheating, the numerous affairs and the way he put her life in danger by having unprotected sex with dozens of women?
There’s another saying that says you can’t change a tiger’s stripes, which is pretty ironic in this situation. I’m not saying Woods hasn’t changed and that whatever help he’s gotten over the past few years hasn’t made him a better person but Elin would be nuts to get back together with Woods. He wasn’t honest or faithful to her before, so what makes her think he can be faithful now? Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Well that’s exactly what Elin would be to get back together with Woods.
I’m all for second chances but with the way Woods behaved before the news of his affairs broke, he had way more than two chances. If he loved his wife, he should have never cheated on her, period. By taking him back now and asking for an exorbitant amount of money to do so, makes her look greedy and shows a lack of trust. If Elin truly believes he’s changed, then why ask for such a high sum of money?
Don’t answer that, I think we all know what the answer is.
