A lot of basketball fans want to see LeBron James in the dunk contest. However, LeBron has always turned down pressure to join the contest. To me, this makes no sense because All-Star weekend should be about entertaining the fans. Luckily for us, a fan by the name of Chris Thomas has a brilliant idea.

He is trying to raise $1 million to get James in the contest.

Thomas wants to raise the money to offer to LeBron to enter the contest.  If he enters, the money would go to the LeBron James Family Foundation. If he still refuses, the money would return to the investors.

Sounds like a win-win situation for me. Thomas is just a fan like the rest of us, so this idea sounds like something that LeBron might end up getting behind.

Trust me, the dunk contest needs all the help it can get. Last year was not fun to watch; all the big names are avoiding it, which means the young guys have to try to carry the load. The casual fan does not want to watch people that they do not know. They want to see guys like James out there throwing down awesome dunks at a moment’s notice.

We will see if this ends up working. I applaud Thomas for thinking outside of the box and I really hope that someone decides to donate a big sum of money to him to get this going.
