Former Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino has been hiding a secret love child for approximately seven years now. Marino and his wife, Claire have had six children so this love child makes his total seven.

Marino had an affair with CBS production assistant Donna Savattere in 2004, right after Marino was hired by CBS as an analyst for their Sunday pregame show. Savattere got knocked up by Marino and baby Chloe was born in 2005.

In order to keep the child on the down-low, Marino paid Savattere millions of dollars to keep quiet. Secrets are never kept these days and once the word got out, Marino released a written statement admitting to everything.

He said that the two kept their arrangement private in order to protect both parties involved. According to Marino, the agreement included him having contact with Chloe and he has stuck close to that agreement. On top of occasional contact with Chloe, he also has been taking financial responsibility for the child.

I’m going to give him credit for admitting to this right off the bat. The fact that he has supported the child with contact and funding proves that he really is a good dad, even if he did have a short-term affair.

This is a shocker for the nation considering Marino has always been viewed as a “family man.” Marino and his wife have been married for almost 30 years and have had six children, nobody expected him to have an affair in there.

I’m really hoping this doesn’t turn into a Tiger Woods type of story for Marino. Hopefully, this was a one-time affair, and he wasn’t sleeping with numerous women throughout his marriage.
