The NFL Combine has morphed into a big business over the last few years. It has even sprung up some satellite combines that take place in different regions across the United States. At the combine in New Jersey, history will be made when Lauren Silberman steps on the field. She will be the first woman to compete in one of these combines.

It would be a long shot for Silberman to get drafted, but the fact that she is even competing is a step in the right direction. With the advent of these regionals, I expect to see more and more women competing as we progress. There are some female kickers out there who certainly deserve a shot at making a name for themselves at one of these competitions.

Silberman could end up being a role model for women everywhere who want to live out a dream of possibly kicking in the NFL. There are still a lot of hurdles that need to be jumped before that would end up happening, but the first step is always the most important one. If Silberman makes a good impression on everyone there, the floodgates just may end up opening.

A lot of people are going to be watching this closely and I bet many of them are hoping Silberman can make her mark. The competition is going to be fierce, but if she gives it her all, that is all that matters. She may not make a splash with an NFL team, but the inspiration she will create should live on for a long time.
