Huge Wreck Ends NASCAR Nationwide Opener At Daytona

Sam Sharpe-USA TODAY Sports

It was one heck of a Nationwide Series race at Daytona on Saturday. Tony Stewart won the race but that was not the most important thing of the day. There was a huge wreck on the last lap that led to injuries for some fans. Check out the video and see how nuts it ended up getting.

Kyle Larson’s car ended up going into the fence and his front end was completely destroyed.  His engine ended up getting caught in the stands and the pieces of his car ended up hitting people in the stands.  There was nothing that he could do about it and hopefully all of the fans are not seriously hurt.

This has been quite the start to the NASCAR season and I have to hope that nothing like this happens at the Daytona 500 on Sunday.  This type of racing is exciting but it can also be very dangerous.  This was certainly a dangerous time and it shows how you have to be on your toes at all times at one of these events.  You never know when something like this is going to happen.

We will try to keep you updated on injuries and the like.  I know that I am praying for all the fans who may have been injured in this incident.  It was a terrible looking crash live and the replays really do not do it justice.  It is just one of those things that happens in this sport.
