Michigan QB Denard Robinson Throws Horrendous First Pitch at Detroit Tigers Game

(Rick Osentoski/USA Today Sports)

We’re only a few weeks away from the 2013 NFL Draft and while there’s no telling where Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson will land, there is one thing we can be thankful for–that he doesn’t play baseball.

Robinson was lucky enough to throw out the first pitch for the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday as they squared off against the Toronto Blue Jays, but it’s safe to say he would do anything for another shot considering how embarrassing his throw was. For a player that was in consideration for the Heisman at the beginning of the 2012 season, let’s just be glad Robinson was a quarterback in college instead of a pitcher.

Since no team is going to give him a chance at quarterback, Robinson will try to make it in the NFL as a wide receiver and considering he rushed for 4,495 rushing yards during his college career–the potential is certainly there and at least one team should be willing to take the risk. Robinson has the type of speed that could make any offense dangerous and it will be interesting to see how much of an impact he can have as a rookie in 2013.

On the bright side–at least sports fans can enjoy the video of Robinson’s first pitch at the Tigers game to get a few good laughs until the draft rolls around in a few weeks. It may not be the right time to make jokes, but Robinson’s first pitch may be the perfect example of why we should be thankful he’s switching positions in the NFL instead of trying to make it as a quarterback.
