Funniest Sport Images of the Week

Funny sport April 2013
Derick E. Hingle - USA TODAY Sports

It's been a tough week for the USA, there is sadly no denying that. Sport has paid it's tributes to the Boston bombing victims, whilst we also sadly heard the news of the explosions at a farm in Texas. We've seen minutes of silence around the globe, from the London Marathon to the NBA; whilst black armbands and ribbons have been a frequently thoughtful tribute.

But in the dark week, we've managed to pick out some slightly humorous moments from the world of Sport. With thousands of cameramen and women snapping away throughout the events there are a large selection of images to view; this week ranging from the shocking to great examples of sporting talent at it's highest level.

However, as silly as it may sound we all know a lot of us like a little giggle over a funny picture. Facial muscles flexing and heated moments can result in amusing mug shots of many sporting idols.

More so, the combination of timing and location can result in some slightly ironic and albeit immature images — but who cares, he is a laugh for you. So here are five of the most amusing pictures of the week from sport. Shots here include a variation in Sports, and aren't necessarily hilarious but hopefully something to make you smile this weekend!

Detroit Tigers catcher Brayan Pena collides with Seattle Mariners first baseman Justin Smoak during the fourteenth inning of a 2-1 Detroit victory at Safeco Field. I'm most interested though whether his helmet manages to land back on his head. Hehe.
