Minnesota Twins’ Glen Perkins Donates Free Tickets to Twitter Fan

Ever wondered if you could get free tickets by simply tweeting at one of your favorite players? Well Minnesota Twins Pitcher, Glen Perkins made that wish come true for one fan. Bemidji State University student, Alex Berg tweeted at Perkins, telling him that his family got “screwed” over on tickets.

Surprisingly, Perkins responded and the family got the lucky chance to attend the Twins game against the Detroit Tigers on April 29th at Target Field.

Berg isn’t even a starting pitcher, he’s a closer, so it’s pretty impressive that he was able to get the tickets that quick to some random Twitter fan. I give him credit for being the good guy but I bet he has hundereds of fans asking him for more free tickets.

He even took the time to return to Twitter to thank the fans that congratulated him on his good deed. I have to admit, it’s good to see guys that make millions giving back to their community and fans.

I’d be interested to see how many professional athletes offer free tickets to fans. I know it has probably happened before, but I’m surprised Perkins didn’t shoot back a direct message to Berg rather than posting it publicly. Unfortunately the Twins lost the game 4-3, but at least Berg got to attend the game.

This makes me wanna go tweet my favorite athletes whenever I plan on going to a game. If they can give away free tickets that easily, I bet that they could offer a VIP session, or at least give you an autographed ball. I guess that we will have to keep Perkins in mind for Santa’s Nice List this year!
