Rosie Napravnik Looks to Make History at Kentucky Derby

Even if you’re not a fan of horse racing, just about everybody is excited about next weekend’s Kentucky Derby and it will certainly be interesting to see which horse and jockey come through as the winner. While there are numerous favorites to choose from, there’s one specific jockey that fans should keep an eye on–Rosie Napravnik.

For a sport that has been dominated by men for it’s entire existence, Napravnik has made quite the name for herself over the last couple of years by overcoming the odds with strong performances in races. With the Kentucky Derby set to take place next weekend, Napravnik will be looking to make history by becoming the first female to ever win the event–which would be beyond impressive.

For those of you that think Napravnik doesn’t have what it takes to pull off the win–better think again. If this jockey has proven anything over the last couple of years, it’s she’s willing to do whatever it takes to win–especially when considering the fact that she’s suffered a broken back, collarbone, arm, and leg throughout her career while riding.

Plus, Napravnik did finish in ninth place a couple of years ago when she was racing in the derby–so she certainly is experienced when it comes to the event. Either way, this event should be fun to watch and it will be interesting to see whether or not Napravnik makes history in this year’s Kentucky Derby.
