15 Athletes Who Deserve a Reality TV Show

Who Deserves to be a Reality TV Star?

1
Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

A ton of athletes have made the attempt to start a reality TV show. Some are successful and have tons of viewers but other athletes aren’t so lucky. For example, Ryan Lochte (pictured above) didn’t exactly give us a good impression with his new show.

As if we didn’t think Lochte was a big enough douchebag between his blingy USA- themed grill and obsession with hooking-up with various women, his TV series didn’t exactly do him any justice. It honestly just confirmed the fact that he thinks he is better than everyone else. Just take a look at the trailer for his show and you’ll be able to tell why he doesn’t deserve a reality TV series.

Ok, now I’ll stop complaining about how dumb Lochte’s series was and get onto the rest of the slideshow. The people on this list do not currently have their own series but I think that they’d have a successful show.

I’m not saying every one of these people needs to have their own show like the Kardashians. Some of these guys should just participate in an existing reality TV series. Whether it’s a couples-show, game show or endurance show, these guys would definitely help increase ratings.

Most of these are athletes are ones that we love; others are ones that we see in the media 24/7 anyways. A few of them have tried their shot at reality TV in the past but they weren’t as successful as they should have been.

On with the chitchat, take a look and see if you think these 15 athletes would have a successful reality TV show and enjoy!

Metta World Peace

This one is easy to start with. The fact that he legally changed his name from Ron Artest to Metta World Peace is enough for me to think he's somewhat crazy and reality TV is all about craziness. He also holds the record for longest NBA suspension in history, that's pretty insane as well. This guy has admitted to living a wild lifestyle during his early NBA career so he'd definitely pull off a good reality TV series.

Derek Jeter

I think Jeter would be the perfect candidate for the hit TV show, The Bachelor. If I wanted to start Jeter's dating history, I wouldn't even know where to begin. Minka Kelly, Jessica Biel and Jessica Alba are the ones that stick out in my mind. Then again, I don't know if he could decide to settle down with just one woman at the end of the series, which could make for an interesting season finale I guess.

Shaun Livingston

So, are you wondering why I put Livingston on this list? He's been on nine different NBA teams since he first went pro in 2004. He's lived in so many cities that he's got to know people just about everywhere. Rather than having him stay in a house like the typical reality TV show, he could travel the nation and show how much diversity he has seen in the last ten year.

Alex Rodriguez

What would A-Rod do on a reality TV show? This one is simple: he could waste all of his money that he got for signing a 10-year contract. He's one of the most hated athletes in the nation right now, I think people would get a good laugh if this guy were to become a reality TV star. On top of that, he was allegedly involved in the PED scandal so he could even fit in well on Celebrity Rehab.

Josh Hamilton

Two big things for this guy: drug addiction and alcoholism. He's already the perfect fit for a reality TV series. He can go out clubbing and then join some fellow baseball players in Celebrity Rehab. He claims to be sober now but you never know with athletes these days. His comments to the press this year haven't really given us much hope that this guy is 100% clean.

Kobe Bryant

Kobe claims that he would never join a reality TV series which would make it an even bigger hit. He's a great player that has a lot of lovers...and a lot of haters. I'm not really sure what type of show I would cast him for but I definitely think he could fit in somewhere, Survivor or Amazing Race possibly? I don't see him on a dating or party show by any means.

Tiger Woods

Honestly, Tiger Woods' life already is a TV show. He may as well pull a Kardashian move and just have someone follow him around with a camera the entire time. Yes, he is hated by a lot of people but it's definitely a show that would get a lot of viewers.

David Beckham

I mean, Beckham was a soccer-god and his wife Victoria is a world-renound model and fashion designer. These guys aren't really a hated couple and I think they could actually have a successful reality TV show to prove it. They don't need to have a Kardashian-style follow-around but they could at least be a team on The Amazing Race or something.

Lindsey Vonn

First off, she's been seen with Tiger Woods, who already earned a spot on this list. She was allegedly with Kris Humphries, who was already featured on the Kardashian Show. I'm beginning to think that if we followed Vonn around for a while, that we would discover some secret dating life of some sort.

Danica Patrick

She's the most successful woman in the history of racing, so that right there is the start of a good show. Even though NASCAR isn't the most popular sport, she would have a good storyline to a reality TV show. She's appeared in commercials, as well as a few other small roles in various TV shows.

Victor Cruz

This guy is basically begging for a reality TV show, so we should probably just give him one. He doesn't want one like the Kardashian's but I don't think that would be a problem. All I have to say, is that nothing can get much worse than The T.O. Show show so take that piece of advice wisely.

Magic Johnson

From NBA star to HIV advocate, this guy has had one crazy life full of ups and downs. He had the game show Who's Got Game? back in the early 2000's but I think it would be awesome if Magic would have a show that incorporated his advocacy for HIV/AIDS prevention. There are talks that he is currently in production of a reality show but we haven't heard much about it yet.

Dennis Rodman

Okay, I know Rodman has been on multiple reality TV shows but he deserves his own TV show at this point. He was crazy back with the Chicago Bulls and to this day, makes some interesting decisions. My current favorite connection with the USA's political rival, North Korea. How he sneaks into another country and makes best friends with the leader is beyond my belief.

The USA Women's Gymnastic team stole the hearts of the nation this year during the 2012 London Olympics. All of these girls showed their strength and proved their athleticism, even competing through injuries. I think it would be fairly easy to follow these girls around for the next Olympic games so that we could see the life of Olympic Champions.

Patrick Kane

Kane needs to be featured on a show like Real World. He's quite the partier and there are numerous stories about his poor drinking habits. This includes a trip to Madison, WI where he allegedly choked a girl, danced on a bar, hooked up with multiple chicks, attended a frat party that he wasn't invited to and then passed out at some random place. He vowed to "tone down" his public image but I think this guy just needs to rage a little more.
