From the 30-5 run to scoring 53 points in the second half, there’s plenty to take away from the Miami Heat‘s big 103-84 win over the San Antonio Spurs. There were plenty of great plays that took place by the Heat on Sunday, but the argument can be made that no play may have been bigger than the block by LeBron James on Tiago Splitter that took place in the fourth quarter.
With the Spurs down 19, Splitter was hoping to bring his team some momentum, but that dream was quickly shattered when James arguably displayed one of the best blocks of the season. The fact that James managed to pull off such an incredible block when Splitter was driving to the basket with such power as he was ready to put down the slam shows just how strong the Heat star really is.
Go ahead and watch the video a few more times and try to make the argument you’ve seen a more powerful block from this past season–because chances are you haven’t. Miami entered this game knowing how important it was to come through the win considering the last thing they wanted to do was enter Game 3 trailing 0-2 to San Antonio and this is just one of numerous plays that helped the Heat come up big when it mattered the most.
There’s a reason why James is considered one of the best players in the league and plays like these are what defines champions.
