Former No. 1 overall pick Greg Oden has had a professional career that has simply been devastated by injuries, to say the least.
The 7-foot phenom burst onto the scene during his high school days, before helping anchor an Ohio State Buckeyes squad that advanced all the way to the National Championship game in his lone season in Columbus.
He entered the NBA, as expected, but simply could not stay healthy. He is however, attempting a comeback and many outlets are reporting that he has looked good, so it shouldn’t come as any shock if one NBA organization takes a chance on him next season.
While Oden’s career remains up in the air, there’s a bloodline of the 7-footer that could very well have an equal amount of hype and potential. That’s right — Oden has a younger brother.
Joe Jones III is considered one of the more on the rise prospects and he is only 13 years old. He stands at 6-foot-6, he is still growing and doctors expect that he will have no trouble breaking 7-feet as he gets older and breaks into the high school ranks.
Whelp, here we go again.
Jones has a nickname ironically enough too. He’s known as Baby Joe, and the ironic portion of that speaks for itself.
Jones’ father, Joe Jones Jr. was a former collegiate players at Fairmont State, so his basketball bloodline runs deeper than just Oden.
Jones III could be yet another prodigy on the rise, but he has some interesting connections obviously. Don’t lose sight of the name in the coming years.
