The 2013 Stanley Cup Finals have lived up to the hype so far as the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks prepare to square off in Game 6 on Monday night. The Blackhawks enter the game with a chance to take home the cup with a win as they hold on to a 3-2 series lead and with Game 6 taking place in Boston, one local news station in Chicago decided to have a little fun of their own with Bruins fans.

WGN in Chicago thought it would be funny to carry a case around the city of Boston with some NHL stickers on it to make people believe they were holding the actual Stanley Cup and believe it or not–people were falling for it. From taking pictures next to the case to just trying to get a glimpse of the trophy, fans were led to believe the real Stanley Cup was being carried around as the Blackhawks have the chance to win it all tonight.

The best part of the video is when the case was opened for Bruins fans to catch a glimpse of the Stanley Cup–only to be left with disappointment as there was really Blackhawks gear sitting on the inside. Even though the chances of the Stanley Cup being carried around in the public like that is extremely rare, it’s hysterical to see how many fans fell for this prank by the local news station.

Well done, WGN, well done.
