Besides being one of the best young pitchers in the MLB, New York Mets ace Matt Harvey showed off his sense of humor, asking New Yorkers what they thought about Matt Harvey.

This may sound confusing, but it’s anything but. Basically, Harvey took to the streets of the Big Apple and asked, who seemed to be, knowledgeable Mets fans about their talented starting pitcher. Obviously, some players, especially up-and-comers, are unrecognizable in their street clothes, but this stunt he pulled on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon was just hilarious.

He stopped people in the street and somewhat ‘undercover’ asked them all different types of questions. The responses by some of the fans and complete confusion by others once they realized who was actually interviewing them are priceless.

Check out the video here:

As you can see, New Yorkers are shocked to find out they are talking to an All-Star pitcher as they have no idea who Harvey is. Only one guy in the video didn’t even recognize the name Matt Harvey, but the rest had nothing but nice things to say about the second-year player.

When you’re taking the league by storm and just becoming popular in your own city, things like this are bound to happen. Harvey is having a tremendous season with a 7-2 record, a 2.35 ERA and an astounding 147 strikeouts — one of the highest totals in baseball — but has yet to garner enough attention to give him superstar status in his own city.

Maybe if he slapped on a baseball jersey and cap, people would recognize him, but either way, this is one of the funnier videos out there.
