Throughout his career, Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson has never been shy about thinking he’s the fastest player in the NFL–which is no surprise considering how difficult he can be to contain when he’s on top of his game. Now, it looks like Johnson is ready to show off his speed against one of the fastest creatures on the planet–a cheetah.

Johnson will team up with Devin Hester of the Chicago Bears for “Man vs. Cheetah”–a special for Big Cat Week on the Nat Geo Wild. There’s no question these two players are two of the fastest in the NFL, but to square off against an actual cheetah–that will certainly be interesting and fun to watch.

The Titans running back already holds the league record with a 4.2 40-yard-dash and if any player is capable of squaring off against a cheetah in a race, it would be him. Depending on how he squares off against the cheetah, maybe this will boost Johnson’s confidence when it comes to returning to his dominant level from a couple of years ago.

It’s been no secret that Johnson’s numbers have been on a decline since he was rewards with that hefty contract from the Titans and even though he had a few solid performances in 2012–there’s no question he was nowhere near the high level he was playing at. Not many athletes can say they squared off against an animal like a cheetah, but Johnson and Hester can.

Keep an eye out for the special when it airs in November as it will certainly be interesting to watch.
