Top 15 Moments of Johnny Manziel’s Wild Offseason
The Top Johnny Manziel Moments of 2013 & Why He's Having More Fun Than You
It's safe to say that winning the Heisman trophy as a freshman has been a life-changing event for Johnny Manziel. Ever since his tremendous 2012 campaign and rise to the top of college football, Manziel has become a star. It was certainly to be expected, but most people didn't envision his popularity to blow up this quickly.
Since the calendar turned over to 2013, Manziel has just kept getting more and more national exposure. However, it's mainly due to his behavior. While it probably doesn't differ much from a normal 20-year old college student's behavior, Manziel is no normal 20-year old. With social media and major television networks watching him like a hawk, there's just constant chatter about him.
Manziel is a football player first and foremost. I have no problem at all with the way he's living his life right now, as long as he can still get the job done on the field. Recent reports suggest that he was living it up last year during his Heisman campaign, so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that he'll be fine in 2013.
Johnny Football says he's just trying to have fun and enjoy life. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that as long as you're also taking care of business. Work hard-play hard is solid motto to live by, and it appears Manziel may subscribe to a similar philosophy on life.
People shouldn't be too hard on this guy, because he is still young. If parents don't think he's a good role model, they need to communicate that to their kids. Manziel is an American and he can live his life how he wants. But, we know it will all come unraveled if he doesn't perform on Saturdays this fall.
With all of that in mind, here are the top moments from Johnny Manziel's crazy offseason (in no particular order):
He Met Lebron James While Attending Game 2 of the Finals
Getting to meet the best basketball player in the world and taking in a game in Miami? Not too shabby.
Tossed Out the First Pitch at a San Diego Padres Game
Manziel knocked this honor out of the park by rolling out off the mound to deliver a football-style first pitch.
He Said He Was Over College
There's no doubt he's living under a microscope right now...
He Got To Hang Out With Drake In Toronto
He called this the best experience of his offseason. (Drake is also rocking a Texas A&M hoodie in the photo.)
He Sat Courtside at a Mavericks Game
How does he afford courtside seats you ask? He doesn't have to.
He Won Big at a Casino
Maybe this is how he payed for his courtside seat?
He Hung With Gronk During Super Bowl Week in New Orleans
Hanging out with Gronk in NOLA? I'm sure they didn't have any adult beverages...
Enjoyed Himself on Spring Break With Marginally Attractive Women
This is probably the only time Manziel has ever attracted any women this offseason. Poor guy...
He Partied With Rick Ross
Even Rick Ross wants a photo with Johnny Football.
He Drank Legally With His Mom
You have to love legal technicalities. I think what Manziel is trying to say in this picture to everyone is 'suck it!'
Archie Manning Kicked Him Out of the Manning Passing Academy
Johnny Football upset Papa Bear.
SEC Media Day - He 'Overslept' at the MPA
Oh, that makes perfect sense.
He Partied with a Tebow-Jets Jersey On
This was a 'do what I want' move by Manziel.
He Was Asked to Leave a Texas Frat Party
These guys did Manziel a favor by asking him to leave their crappy frat party.
Skittles and Beer
Mr. Manziel revealed what his son Johnny's diet consisted of during his Heisman season. Skittles and beer are definitely not on the banned substances list.
But in all seriousness, if Johnny Manziel can just go out and play football like he did a year ago - all of this nonsense will tame down. It's not going to fully go away, because he's now reached a new level of celebrity, but the haters will have nothing to say if he can back up his antics with tremendous play on the field. I was impartial to Manziel a year ago, but now I think I'll root for him to be successful. I hope he can prove that all of this gossiping that we do, is for nothing. Manziel is a football player, and I for one would like to get back to commenting on what he does on the field.
