I know what you’re thinking when you read “worst fan bases.” Don’t worry; most of these schools have the best football supporters in the country. This list will focus on the meanest, rudest fans in the SEC.

In the SEC, college football is a way of life. Fans love their teams in the good times and the bad, which is part of the reason the SEC has become the best football conference in the NCAA. It doesn’t matter what city in America you visit, you’re likely to see a team shirt or hat wearing SEC fan walking down the street.

However, this isn’t about the most loyal or far reaching SEC fan bases. The teams on this list are the meanest, most irrational fan bases in the best college football conference in the country.

The teams with the type of fans that, when their team is down by 50 will continue to yell and chant about how terrible your team is. These are the type of teams that when you look at your team’s schedule, you think, “Well there’s no way I can show up to that stadium in an away jersey,” because you won’t be able to hear the game because of the jeers, taunts and boos. These are the type of fans that will poison a famous tree to prove a point.

Some will say that being the meanest fan base is a disgrace; most will say that it’s a sign that your fan base is superior.

Here is a list of the top-five worst college football fan bases in the SEC. If you have any suggestions of other schools that should have made this list, feel free to comment below.

The Tennessee Volunteers have been “about to win the SEC” ever since Phillip Fulmer “stepped down.” Butch Jones may be about to change things, but Vol fans still believe they’ll win the SEC every year. Don’t ever say Roll Tide around the Vols.

No. 4 Vanderbilt Commodores

Three bowl games in the last 30 years, and they all act like they can make it to the national championship every season. The Commodores are the only fan base I know of that will start badmouthing recruits as soon as they commit to their rival, Tennessee.

As if their constant moaning about how great their coach is isn’t enough, they somehow think that they’ll beat Alabama every year without a quarterback. Beware of drunk shouts of “Tiger bait” everywhere you go.

If you follow your team to Athens, you better be prepared to take some heat. These fans are rowdy and will do whatever they can to provoke you into some type of confrontation.

No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide

Some of their fans have poisoned a revered tree at Auburn and even compared Head Coach Nick Saban to Hitler in a positive way. It doesn’t get any crazier than that.
