Soccer Player Gets Shorts Pulled Down During Middle of Match

Weird things happen during soccer matches all the time. Players often fain injuries and complain to officials in a manner that draws a lot of scrutiny from Americans. Soccer is just a different game to most of us and it’s different in a way that many don’t find enjoyable. But even the harshest of soccer critics will be able to get some enjoyment from this viral video.

Check out Chesterfield FC‘s Gary Roberts and what he does to a Cheltenham player after an argument:

I’ve seen a lot of things during my lifetime of watching sports, but I believe this is the first time I’ve ever seen someone get pantsed during a professional game. It would be accurate to label the move as childish, yet it’s also hilarious. You just don’t see something like this every day.

Could you imagine if this happened in the NBA or NFL? A bench-clearing brawl would most certainly ensue and the guy that did the pantsing would definitely get a haymaker thrown in his direction.

Pulling someone’s shorts down during the middle of game is just straight up Busch League in my book.

Still, the Chesterfield Football Club has never gotten this much exposure in the US until now. From the mind set of, ‘there’s no such thing as bad publicity,’ this is a good thing. However, I think this will do little to increase soccer interest in this country. Most U.S. sports fans will watch the 30-second clip and think, those goofy soccer players are at it again

But at the same time, soccer’s popularity is growing by the day in this county. This latest viral video probably won’t deter any current fans from watching, either.
