Detroit Tigers’ Jose Iglesias Makes One of Best Throws You Will Ever See

Jose Iglesias

How often do we see amazing throws in baseball? Seemingly every day. How often do we see unbelievable throws like the one that Detroit Tigers‘ new shortstop Jose Iglesias made on Monday night? Once in a great while.

The Tigers’ newest acquisition has been paying huge dividends already, especially defensively. He seems to gobble everything up that comes his way and he makes it look easy and impressive. The 23-year-old looks to be the shortstop of the future with Jhonny Peralta suspended for 50 games and becoming a free agent after this year. This play makes everyone realize just why this team wants to keep him around.

Check out the video here:

Just watching the ball come off the bat of the hitter, you can tell it was going to be a tough play. Doug Fister is normally a great fielder, but if the tall lanky pitcher couldn’t get to the ball, there was no way the shortstop was going to get to it, right? Wrong.

Sure, it was a close enough play at first to go either way, but Iglesias made possibly the play of the year and people should start getting excited because this kid is young, and you have to believe that plays like this will be the norm for him. It looks like the Tigers got a great deal when they dealt Avisail Garcia and Brayan Villarreal to snag the young infielder from the Boston Red Sox.

All I can say about this play is just wow. I can’t wait to see what else this kid has in store for us in the future.
