USC Used Snoop Dogg to Help Land Silas Redd

Silas Redd unexpectedly became available for the 2012 season after the scandal at PSU. Before long, he decided to transfer to USC and start a new chapter in his career as a Trojan. As it turns out, Lane Kiffin and company rolled out the red carpet for the talented running back, and then some. In a new college football book by John U. Bacon, the author claims that the USC staff met Redd at the airport in a private Mercedes jet with none other than Snoop Dogg on board.

Snoop is of course a big proponent of California teams and is clearly a big USC fan. His presence had to be persuasive for Redd, who went on to rush for 905 yards and nine touchdowns for the Trojans.

The running back will return to L.A. in 2013 as a senior with a strong chance to take his game to Sundays next year. He did tear his meniscus in the offseason, but the running back expects to be ready for the season-opener on August 29th against Hawaii. He says he’s finally comfortable in his new home and ready to show everyone what he can do on the big stage in 2013.

“I had already established a little name for myself at Penn State and hopefully with a great performance this year people will remember how I faced adversity and fought through it and disregarded the hatred and negativity and was still able to be successful. I’m excited for what’s to come.”
