Bret Bielema is not the most well-liked guy in the city of Madison. The former Wisconsin Badgers head coach is surely a hated man on his former campus for what he did to the program. No, I’m not talking about leading the Badgers to a handful of Big Ten titles — I’m talking about leaving the team before last year’s Rose Bowl appearance.
Bielema was offered a job as the head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks prior to the team’s bowl game. While it might seem like it would be a great idea to take the job in a better conference, the Razorbacks were run into the ground the season before by temporary head coach John L. Smith.
Leaving your school before a big bowl game is enough to instill hatred into the hearts of Badger fans everywhere. Even more disrespectful was the fact that he stated years earlier how the Big Ten never wanted to be like the SEC because it was good enough in its own way.
Now that he went back on his word and stabbed Wisconsin in the back, the Badgers are more likeable without the snake of a coach and some fans are kicking off the 2013 season with a bit of ‘Bielema bashing’.
Check out the awesome Bret Bielema piñata that some Badger fans constructed over the weekend.
This is pretty awesome and as a long-time hater of the old head coach, I am happy to see that I’m not alone. Well done, Badger fans. Well done.
