SportsCenter commercials on ESPN are always relatively entertaining. Athletes come in and film a 15 to 30 second commercial that showcases some humor while taking a jab at themselves or others. Calvin Johnson is in the latest commercial with such happenings, poking fun at his nickname ‘Megatron’.

While Johnson may or may not be human — the jury is still out — he is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, if not the absolute best. The physical specimen that is Megatron racked up a league record 1,964 yards last season while also scoring five touchdowns in one of the most impressive single-season performances from any wide out in NFL history.

People will debate until he is no longer in the league whether he is the best of all-time, but he has a ways to go to catch the likes of Randy Moss and Jerry Rice.

Watch this hilarious commercial made by Megatron and SportsCenter anchor Stuart Scott:

I like the video idea just because you would think a commercial with Johnson would be something as in him catching everything thrown his way, but it catches you off guard when he says, “I was never here”, and then turns into a soda machine.

In my opinion, Megatron will end up being the best of all-time because of the physical tools that he possesses, but for now, he will have to settle for a couple well-made commercials and an NFL record. Hopefully we can see him and the Detroit Lions in the postseason catching passes from Matthew Stafford.

This guy needs to do more commercials.
